Was just wondering the best way to copy everything from this hard drive to the next hard drive, should I just set it to slave, plug it in, click the C drive and highlight all the folders, then set it to the primary drive? Will that work? And how do I get the bios right on the new drive once I get everything on the new drive, or will the Bios be right if I copy everything? Thanks in advance, I'll probably try this tomorrow if no one responds

That's one way, but there are programs designed for just that. I know Maxtor drives at least use to. Just type in "hard drive" copy in Google (with the quotes around hard drive), and it should give you enough results to test a few different things out.
But the BIOS isn't on the hard drive. The BIOS is on the motherboard. That's the GUI for changing RAM timings, boot order, etc as well as viewing CPU and motherboard temperatures just to name a couple of other functions.
Take it to a professional and let them do it, if you do it yourself, what if you **** your computer and can't use it anymore?

I used to work at a computer store
1) Waste of money
2) This isnt that difficult, I've just never done it before

do you happen to know what keys are the usual for getting into the BIOS on boot? I think F8 is one and the insert or delete key repeatedly is another? I'm not positive

and sometimes when im plugging a new or another hard drive to this board ive gotten a blue screen error simply because the bios wasnt matching the hard drive, so I dont know if i'm gonna run into that problem or not but if I do

the function keys usually get you into the bios
for dell computers, it's f2
for my home computer (msi 64-bit motherboard), it's f1 i believe.
and like odin said, there are tons of programs to do that. if you bought your drive retail (from a store), then it should come packaged with several hard drive utilities. at least the last maxtor and seagate drives I've bought have.
To get into my BIOS, I have to press delete during the POST screen. If there isn't a message on your screen saying what button to press (there may be something saying "Press TAB to show POST", which that screen will then show which button to enter BIOS), then refer to the user's manual for your motherboard, or if it's something like a Dell or Gateway, look in the manual for the system itself. I don't believe they have just a manual for the motherboard.
Not sure what would be causing the blue screens, but I highly doubt it's related to the hard drive itself unless, maybe, if it was DOA.
And, FWIW, I'd suggest clean installing onto this hard drive your OS, then copy the files you want from the other hard drive onto it, if it's been a while since you've gone with a clean install.
yeah it seems like a better idea to install the OS clean, I just dont feel like re-installing all the other software I've got on here
the blue screens seemed to be directly related to the hard drive being on a different motherboard before, because I'd wipe them clean and re-instal windows on them and theyd be fine.
And Western Digital didnt really give me anything at all, I ordered this online(320 GB @ $129 ), and all I got was a reciept and promotional **** about their accessories online they didnt even send a cable
