OK, I just got a new laptop that has Windows Vista on it (which is a complete and total pain in the ***). I have a Verizon network card. I can't get any P2Ps to work, and bittorrent won't work, either. All of those programs act like I have a firewall, even if the firewall is turned off. Is there some compatibility issue with Vista? Has Vista or Verizon somehow blocked these programs from being used? What the hell is going on? I'm paying $60/month and can't download ****, which totally sucks.

Yeah, I can't stand Vista. But that doesn't really help me figure out if Vista is the problem in this particular instance.

The company I work for hands out free compay's of Vista, I can think of 8-9 people that have given up and ****canned Vista. Went back to XP. I've stuck with Vista though.

There's a lot of drivers that aren't finalized on Vista, last I checked. That can cause problems with lots of different software. And it's quite possible Verizon has the ports used for P2P blocked on their network since it is typically a bandwidth hog and wireless bandwidth is spendy.

OK, Problem fixed. For anyone who may have this problem in the future: Make sure you have Java 6, and uninstall your McAfee Security ****.
