March 20, 2006
TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers re-signed wide receiver Ike Hilliard to a four-year contract on Monday.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Hilliard caught 35 passes for 282 yards and one touchdown last season - his first with the Bucs.
A first-round pick in 1997, Hilliard spent his first eight seasons with the New York Giants and had 368 receptions, but was released last March for salary cap purposes.
Hilliard enjoyed his finest campaign in 1999 when he had career highs of 72 catches and 996 yards. In 2000, he posted a personal-best eight touchdowns and shined in the playoffs for New York, making 10 catches for 155 yards and two TDs in the Giants' 41-0 rout of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC championship game.
The Bucs on Monday also re-signed cornerback Torrie Cox, who finished third on the team with 19 special teams tackles and also returned 24 kickoffs for 464 yards.
