Default Will Allen: Opportunity Knocking

TAMPA - The transition from one season to the next is seldom seamless. Whether it's a result of free agency, injury or player promotion, there's always something forcing a team to make at least a handful of lineup changes.

The Bucs are no different. Their lineup will change as well this season. Unlike a lot of teams, however, their lineup will not change dramatically.

The Bucs have 21 of their 22 starters coming back from last year. The only spot at which they're inserting a newcomer is at free safety. But even there they will employ a familiar face............

he had 64 tackles because people were caught out of position on run plays.

You have to come to the table with something better than this. Everyone who knows in depth football, knows the Tampa 2 is predicated on strcit discipline by their players to maintain their gap responsibilties.

If players were constantly out of position like you say they were, then Will Allen must be the greatest Safety to ever live. Because if this is the case, then you are attributing Tampa's #1 defensive ranking in the league in 2005 to Will Allen for not only making his plays, but picking up the slack for his teamates on their missed assignments.

So then, you're contradicting yourself. If he isn't very good, then he would have missed not only his resposibilities, then he would have missed also the ones his teamates missed. That would have translated into a bad defense, which obviously wasn't the case.
