Barber keeps silent on contract
Good thing Ronde Barber isn't Terrell Owens.
Because if Owens were in Barber's position - one of the premier players at his position heading into the final year of his contract with no extension - he probably would be staging protests and doing cartwheels in front of the cameras to make certain the world knew his plight.
Instead, Barber, the Bucs' All-Pro, do-everything cornerback, is sitting patiently - and more important, quietly - while the front office shows almost no intention of getting a deal done.
It's completely within the team's rights, of course, to let Barber play this season without a new deal. But if that's the choice, the Bucs better be prepared for the potential outcome: Barber, maybe the most versatile cornerback in the NFL, hitting the open market in 2007 and ending up elsewhere.
