Default Anti T.O.

Barber keeps silent on contract

Good thing Ronde Barber isn't Terrell Owens.

Because if Owens were in Barber's position - one of the premier players at his position heading into the final year of his contract with no extension - he probably would be staging protests and doing cartwheels in front of the cameras to make certain the world knew his plight.

Instead, Barber, the Bucs' All-Pro, do-everything cornerback, is sitting patiently - and more important, quietly - while the front office shows almost no intention of getting a deal done.

It's completely within the team's rights, of course, to let Barber play this season without a new deal. But if that's the choice, the Bucs better be prepared for the potential outcome: Barber, maybe the most versatile cornerback in the NFL, hitting the open market in 2007 and ending up elsewhere.

He probably isn't saying anything because he knows he can come to the Panthers after this coming season.

Well, sure I'd like to have him back. I also know you were kidding, because there is no way he'll be playing anywhere but Tampa or New York. Hell it has been documented that Tiki for the last few years has been bugging Giants execs to make some kind of trade that would land Ronde in new York.

Yea, I was joking. But it is nice to see a star not ***** about money when they make so much of it to begin with. But he probably will be in NY come 2007. He might not be making it public but I doubt he's happy with Tampa and his contract right now.

I'm confident a deal will get done. Don't forget, the rookies haven't even been signed yet. Bruce Allen usually signs all his rookie the week before camp.

i think that the Lions would be the best and most likely place for ronde if he doesn't end up back with the buccs, they play the cover 2 and his boy marinelli is the coach.

Well, if that's how you feel, then you could also say the Chiefs. End up back with his boy Edwards, and the Chiefs secondary sucks. Or Minnesota, and end back up with his boy Tomlin. Chicago, and end back up with his boy Lovie. Colts???

or indy with tony dungy, but my point was that the lions are now implementing the cover 2 and would love to have a vet there to help bring the youngins along.
