Default Bucs do not mind lauding of Panthers

Analysts believe Carolina will go to the Super Bowl. But a plethora of returning starters has Tampa Bay confident.

By RICK STROUD, Times Staff Writer

TAMPA - When they check into the Celebration Hotel 12 days from now, the bellmen will be the first to notice.

The Bucs won't be carrying heavy expectations into training camp.

At least not as far as the five most renowned preseason publications are concerned. All predict division rival Carolina to reach Super Bowl XLI in Miami, and three believe it will win it.

I think alot rides on Simms this year. If Simms plays well TB could have one of the better Offense's in the league. The wideouts dont get alot of credit, but if Clayton returns to form, and if they can get production out of Boston and Stoval, that possition would be pretty deep.

Having 3 out of 5 pubs. pick you to go to the SB could be a jinx

I agree. Anything negative can happen as far as injuries. I firmly believe the Buccs are a SuperBowl contender if everyone is healthy. Three major factors that held Tampa back last season. Simms' inexperience, O-line deficiencies in pass blocking, and the disappearance of Mike Clayton. Now, with those three major flaws, they still went 5-1 in the division, and won the South. So what should they be able to do, now that all three flawed areas have improved???? Simms by all offseason accounts looks lightyears ahead of where he was this time last season. Jeremy Trueblood who so many so called experts said the Buccs reached on looks awesome so far, and may beat out Kenyatta Walker. Our right guard position will be improved with the likes of Jeb Terry who is having an excellent offseason. Mike Clayton is 100% healed, has shed some excess weight he gained last offseason, and is reportedly in the best shape of his entire football career. What's in store for the Buccs in '06? If they are graced with good health by the gracious Football GODS..........SuperBowl contender!!!!!!!!!!

I don't agree with people who say the Buccs can't win, or are not contenders. Because they are. The Panthers and Buccs are 2 of the best teams in the NFL. But I still believe we'll win the division, and get to the big game. But of course, I'm biased.

I expect a Buccs/Panthers NFC Championship game. Ironicly with the loser of the division going to the Superbowl.

The Panthers are one of the "hot" teams if not the "hot" team. I didnt know Keyshawn was THAT good.

They have been the hot team since midway through their Super Bowl run.
