Default Buccs sign Zemaitis

The Buccaneers signed another draft pick Wednesday, inking fourth-round cornerback Alan Zemaitis to a contract.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Zemaitis earned second-team All-American honors as a senior and was a three-year starter at Penn State.

Tampa Bay now has six of its 10 rookies under contract, and more signings are expected to take place as the Bucs report to Celebration Hotel for the start of training camp on Thursday afternoon.

The Bucs’ four remaining draft picks – guard Davin Joseph (first round), tackle Jeremy Trueblood (second round), wide receiver Maurice Stovall (third round) and tight end T.J. Williams (sixth round) – are expected to sign their respective deals before the Bucs officially finish reporting to training camp on Thursday evening.

EDIT:The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed second-round pick, tackle Jeremy Trueblood, PewterReport.com is reporting.

Although details of the multi-year contract were not immediately available, Trueblood’s deal was finalized Thursday morning as the Bucs were preparing to report to Celebration Hotel for the start of training camp.

The Bucs are working on signing their three remaining unsigned picks – guard Davin Joseph (first round), wide receiver Maurice Stovall (third round) and tight end T.J. Williams (sixth round) – before they hold their first practice on Friday morning.

#1 Pick Signed...from TampaBayOnline

7:02 p.m.: As expected, top draft pick Davin Joseph and the Bucs have agreed to terms on a five-year deal, according to Joseph’s agent, Ben Dogra.

Financial terms were not announced, but Joseph is expected to be ready for Friday’s 8:30 a.m. practice.

WR Maurice Stovall remains the only draft pick yet to agree to contract terms.

With WR Maurice Stovall signing today, that makes all of the Buc draft picks signed BEFORE the start of camp.

A nice, comfortable 95 degrees here in Orlando tomorrow. Must be football season in Florida!!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers spent Thursday reporting to Celebration Hotel for the start of training camp. The Bucs had until 6:00 p.m. to sign their four unsigned draft picks – guard Davin Joseph (first round), tackle Jeremy Trueblood (second round), wide receiver Maurice Stovall (third round) and tight end T.J. Williams (sixth round) to avoid any holdouts.

The Bucs signed Trueblood on Thursday morning, but the deals for Joseph and Stovall took longer and were completed by Thursday evening.

Williams, who suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon during Tampa Bay’s mandatory mini-camp in late-June, has not signed his rookie contract yet, and the team will place him on injured reserve immediately after he inks his rookie contract.

Williams might not be the only Bucs player that doesn’t take the field with the rest of his teammates for the Bucs' first training camp practice on Friday morning. Tampa Bay’s team doctors spent Thursday evening completing physicals for several players, including quarterbacks Jay Fiedler and Luke McCown.

Bucs head coach Jon Gruden suggested Thursday that Fiedler, who is coming off offseason surgery on his throwing shoulder, and/or McCown, who suffered a partially torn ACL in June, could start training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
