WEIGHTY ISSUE: Recently obtained RG Toniu Fonoti has been a regular participant in the team's offseason workout program. That's good news. Schottenheimer, Fonoti's former coach at San Diego, says the biggest problem he had with Fonoti was he was seldom around the Chargers complex during the offseason.
That absence apparently led to some weight and health issues and eventually played a part in the release of Fonoti, a massive 6-foot-4, 350-plus-pound guard who signed with the Bucs shortly after he flunked a physical given by the Raiders.
Fonoti reportedly weighed close to 400 pounds at one point, but Gruden said he reported to the Bucs weighing 370 and doesn't need to drop a lot of weight to play at an optimum level.
"The guy is huge," Gruden said. "I mean, his head weighs 154 pounds. The guy's got size Triple-E feet, man. They're like cast irons. Curtis Schults, the [former] strength coach of the Vikings is now our assistant strength coach, and he said when [Fonoti] was in Minnesota at 378 pounds he had 22 percent body fat. That's unheard of. He's just massive. His hands are thick. His head is huge. He's just a big guy, you know. But we are going to try to trim him down a little."

Looks like he's going to work out just dandy. And if he does the middle of the Bucs o-line is going to be awesome. Buenning was a monster last year and has potential to be a pro-bowler soon. Fonoti is a former pro-bowler and Wade is solid... we just need to solidify the right and left tackle spots.

When he wasn't injured or skipping out on the team. He had one good season in 2004. In 2003 he was on IR all year, and he played sparatically in 2002.
Not to mention, the big factor that lead to Fonoti being traded (not released as the article says) was the fact that he showed up days late for mandatory stuff EvERY YEAR, and had a piss poor attitude...
Good luck with him, he can be good, but he will probably just keep sucking ***...

Just a quick rundown of his last 7-8 months.
Sitting on the IR in San Diego....
Traded to Minnesota.....
Sits on IR in Minnesota milking a hand injury and weighing 400lbs....
Is released, and goes to Oakland....
Fails a physical....
End up in Tampa....
Yeah. That's the second coming of Anthony Munoz or Jackie Slater, right there.
