Unlike you I watched it all..... I didn't go do a search for my post.... I watched the steal curtain play during the 70's when teams often ran more than they passed. The steelers were my favoite AFC team. what I remember about the them most was the "steel curtain" of L.C. Greenwood, Joe Greene, Ernie Holmes and Dwight White... all D lineman... not disputing the fact that Carson "created" the cover 2... just IMO and memory the Giants made it more famous because they played it almost exclusively and more "known for it" as more and more teams started adding 3 and 4 WR packages in the 80's...
Tony G and Monte brought it back into the lime light in the late 90's....
and I forgot about the Bucs 10 win season in 79 when they were shut out at home by the 9-7 Vince Ferragamo / Pat Haden Rams....
the bucs didn't win more than 10 games again for almost 20 years...

Glad you are old enough to semi-recall what you saw back then. As for looking it up you may want to try that next time-- it may improve your accuracy. But, Carson is the one who created the cover 2 and made it famous. Just because you only remember Pitt's front four from that era doesn't mean their LB and Secondary corp wasn't just as good. The Steel Curtain dominated all facets of the game-- run and pass. And I dont have to be old to know it -- there is a such thing as a DVD player and NFL Films presents with an entire library on the Steel Curtain.
And I never disputed the fact the Giants had success with a system based on Carson's but to say the Giant's cover 2 defense was more infamous than the Curtain of the 70's is laughable.
Just to correct it is Tony "D" not G. And he made his version of the cover 2 famous again in the mid 90's (1996) not late 90's when he elevated a team from the gutter that had 13 losing seasons not 20 as you would like to make it seem-- you also left out that Tampa in those early years went on 3 playoff runs. Tampa had its problems due to a cheap *** owner and once the big TV revenue sharing deals of the early and mid 80's happended, Culverhouse realized he could pocket loads of money and never ever have to put a winning product on the field- so he didn't. Amazing the Glazers bought the team and it has been one of the most successful franchises in the league since. But it's been that much sweeter living through all those lean years.
Not like the Skins haven't had the same type of lean years. Hell your team went from 1946-1969 with ony 2 winning seasons and no 10 win seasons. Not to mention in the modern era of football your team has 3 winning seasons in the past 13 years.
I find it funny you call the Tampa Fans on this board *******s yet you are the one trolling a Buc thread on a CB's contract and taking pot shots at the term the "Tampa 2" which is what Tampa's defense is referred to by the professionals. If thats not the pot calling the kettle black. At least do your homework and maybe us ******* Tampa fans would stop shoving your foot back in your mouth.
