Free-agent tackle Luke Petitgout has reached agreement with Tampa Bay on a three-year, $6 million deal that includes a $3 million signing bonus.[/b]

After he was released by the Dolphins when the sides couldn't reach an agreement on a restructured deal, Carter signed with the Bucs, agreeing to a four-year, $25 million deal. The former University of Florida standout is scheduled to make $5.2 million this season and $5.8 million in 2008.[/b]

In other news, the team restructured the final three years of receiver Joey Galloway's contract. The deal called for Galloway to receive $1.28 million in base salary and a $1.2 million roster bonus in 2007.
According to NFL.com, the new deal calls for Galloway to make $7.5 million total and includes $3.1 million of guaranteed payouts, including a $1.8 million bonus this year.
His salaries for 2008 and '09 remain roughly the same as he is still slated to make $1.767 million in '08 and $2 million in '09, according to figures obtained from the NFLPA.[/b]
Just a great offseason all around. QB, LT, FB, DE/DT, and CB have all been addressed so far.
Depending on how the draft goes, this could be a playoff team once again. I love all of these moves so far.
Furthermore, since it doesn't look like Plummer got his retirement papers in before the trade, the Bucs might get his signing bonus credited back to them since technically his retirement will have come AFTER the trade was completed. **** Denver!
i cant believe Petitgout is only getting $6 mil over 3 years, id take him for that and half of that tacked on. Can't believe he didnt get a huge payday after the season he had before he was injured. Maybe the injury was more serious than anyone reported, either that or his agent sucks after the contract Davis got from the cowboys

His injury was very serious... I believe he had micro-fracture surgery which 2 or 3 years ago meant a guy was done... For a tackle that is significant because not only will his repaired fibula have to hold his big *** he will be back peddling quickly to try and keep up with the speed rushers in this league. Also the league is reporting he is still struggling with back problems...
However, that being said a Petigout at 75% is better than Davis at 100%. Good signing IMO.
The Carter signing is a little more puzzling to me. Now we have 3 DE's that are over 33 years of age and will need to be replaced within the next two seasons.
We should have kept White and dealt Rice to another team while his stock is still somewhat high. I am afraid after this season most people wouldn't give Rice the league minimum to play on their team. Time will tell whether or not letting White walk was a good idea. I for one think the Bucs made a very bad and costly decision not keeping the young player. I guess time will tell.
Early reports say Carter will play DT for us next to Hovan. If you remember, he played on the interior for Miami and was really pretty damn good. The guy is a rock and he'll play all over the line. I'd expect our starting line to have Rice, Carter, Hovan, and Spires causing problems from day one.
The thing with White, he didn't want to be here. To keep him here we would have had to overpay in an already inflated market. Would White really be worth 40m to keep him here as a situational pass rusher? Out of the five (Rice, Spires, Wyms, Carter), White was only #2 at best for us in pass rushing and easily the worst in run stopping. I liked White, and I would have liked to see him stay here...but Carter is a more complete player and came cheaper. Not to mention, he provides excellent leadership.
Rice was coming off a down year, we wouldn't get the value he's worth. I'd rather keep him at this point. We're closer to the playoffs right now than you might think.

33, 34, 29, 33... That's the age of the lineman you suggested in our starting rotation. The only problems I see these four creating are with the Bucs training staff trying to keep their old asses on the field. I hope we draft well...
