Default White's absence from Titans minicamp angers Fisher, Bulluck

White's absence from Titans minicamp angers Fisher, Bulluck - Nashville, Tennessee - Tuesday, 05/29/07 - Tennessean.com
Quote:
Second-year running back LenDale White angered Titans Coach Jeff Fisher today, failing to make it back to team headquarters in time for a minicamp practice.

White’s been out of action since the team’s first minicamp practice in May, when he tweaked a hamstring.

“Everybody else managed to make it back, he didn’t,” Fisher said. “Maybe there are things that are more important to him than things that we are doing. I’ll assume he’ll be back at some point today.”

Fisher said White had made an attempt to get in touch to say he had travel issues.

“He had some kind of flight problem or something like that,” Fisher said. “No one else seemed to have flight problems. …

"I’ve been on record with being disappointed with him. I hope to have him back on the practice field, but again everybody else was here and he wasn’t. I’m anxious to hear what kind of excuse he has.”

Asked if the Titans needed to see a bigger commitment from the second-year pro, Fisher said the team can’t see it until White can actually participate in practices.

“Commitment is on the field, so he hasn’t been on the field, so I’d assume that the answer is yes to that question,” Fisher said. “He’ll get on the field eventually, we just hope it’s not going to be too late. Next topic.”

Several Titans veterans, including veteran linebacker Keith Bulluck, also took issue with White's absence.

“I think in the eyes of all of his teammates he needs to commit himself," Bulluck said. "Everybody on the team likes LenDale as a person but he hasn’t proven anything to anyone as a football player. Potential is one thing, but you have to apply it.

"We understand he is hurt, but I would have liked to miss today. I would like to miss Thursday, but there are certain things that are required of you being in a team sport.

"Him being one of the two people that we are supposed to rely on at the running back position, I don’t think the things that he is doing this offseason is really sitting well with a lot of his teammates.’’
Sounds like his act is wearing thin. You would think when people think you are fat, lazy, and always hurt, youd be in camp.
