GM says Brown may be running back to Titans
The City Paper - Smart, Fast, Free
Quote:
After drafting running back Chris Henry in the second round of last April’s draft, the Tennessee Titans had seemingly turned the page on Chris Brown, who fell to third on the depth chart a year ago and couldn’t wait to test unrestricted free agency.
The parting of the ways seemed complete when the Titans taped over Brown’s name on his locker with that of another player and handed Brown’s No. 29 jersey over to Henry.
Brown’s agent, Ryan Morgan, said at the time that he didn’t feel his client would be back in Tennessee, as the Titans appeared content to cast their lot with Henry and second-year man LenDale White.
“I think we’ve had the same interest level in Chris all along, but I think we sort of lost focus for awhile once the draft picks came in once the draft came along,” Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt said. “We’ve always thought that Chris was a talented football player and that he makes us a better football team.”
Now, with one more set of mini-camps scheduled for June, there appears the very real possibility that Brown might once again don a Titans uniform in time for those workouts.
“We’ve had some productive talks with Mike, and we’ll continue to talk,” Morgan said. “We are still apart in terms of the value of the contract, but we are talking.”
Morgan said Brown would be fine with a short-term deal, but the dollar amount appears to be the major sticking point as to whether or not he lands in Tennessee.
Brown rushed for 1,067 yards in 11 games in 2004 and had 851 yards in 2005, but lost his job to Travis Henry and played behind White as well last year. He played in just five games and rushed for a career-low 156 yards.
“Chris is in great shape and he is going to be productive, and we’d like to have a contract that reflects that,” Morgan said.
Morgan indicated that he and Brown would be willing to accept a contract laden with incentives.
Reinfeldt said the Titans were open to that sort of contract for Brown as well, though the money in the incentives is still up for debate.
“I think we would be open to that type of contract, where it is enhanced by incentives, but I don’t think we’re on the same level in terms of the dollar amounts in the incentives as they are right now,” Reinfeldt said.
The agent also reiterated that there are still other teams in the mix for Brown, including New England, Indianapolis, Green Bay and Chicago.
“Philosophically, we are looking for a place where Chris and go in and have a chance to be productive, and the Titans are certainly right in that mix,” Morgan said.
The Titans could likely use a veteran running back of sorts to go with Henry, an untested rookie, and White, whose weight issues, hamstring injury and his missing an organized team activity session last month, have called his reliability into question heading toward training camp.

So had i until Prof made a thread about him. Its funny how bad he wanted out of Tenn and now might be going back. Of course it helps when your competition is a fat Lendale, and a rookie.

not to mention a rookie who had a porous rushing average and all of one good highlight from college.

I dont understand why he wants back. All he wanted was his chance to get out of here, and he got it.
