Camp opens without Pacman - Nashville, Tennessee - Friday, 07/27/07 - Tennessean.com
excerpt:
As expected, Pacman Jones won't be on the field with the Titans today. The NFL informed Jones on Thursday that he will not be allowed to participate in training camp practices with the team.
Jones' agent, Michael Huyghue, and the suspended cornerback had held out hope that Commissioner Roger Goodell would permit Jones to practice in camp.
But the Titans made it clear that they were not interested in having the troubled player around as owner Bud Adams told The Tennessean that the team didn't expect to see Jones full-time until he completed his suspension.
Because of an accumulation of off-field incidents, Goodell suspended Jones on April 10 for the 2007 season. He could be reinstated after 10 games, when Goodell will review his case.
Since the suspension, a long-running investigation in Las Vegas produced two felony charges against Jones, and police in Georgia have wanted to question him as a witness to events at an Atlanta-area strip club that led to a shooting nearby.
Another old case includes an unresolved felony charge in Fayetteville, Ga.
During the suspension, Jones is allowed to visit the facility once a week "for conditioning, film study and other similar activities."
