Titans optimistic they'll sign Simon - Nashville, Tennessee - Saturday, 08/25/07 - Tennessean.com
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt said he has "a good chance" at signing former Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Corey Simon.
Reinfeldt said he expects Simon to make a decision in the next day or so. Simon visited the Titans on Monday and had a physical.
"The visit was very positive," Reinfeldt said. "A lot of things happened that were good indicators.''
The Colts, who signed Simon to a five-year, $30 million contract in 2005, terminated the deal on Aug. 4. He did not play last season because of a knee injury and an undisclosed illness.
A Pro Bowl selection in 2003, Simon has 351 tackles and 33 sacks in 91 regular season and 13 postseason games.
"He is just a wide body and an important part of what we do is stop the run," Reinfeldt said. "We had issues last year and he would make a difference.''
