New Witness Comes Forward In Pacman Case

July 24, 2007 06:32 PM

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A Las Vegas club employee said Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones did not do anything to spark a melee that preceded a triple shooting in February.

Statements from the surprise witness may be just the break the suspended player needs.

Jones' attorneys said a Minxx Gentlemen's Club employee says Pacman made no threats and had nothing to do with that Vegas melee that led to a triple shooting.

Up until now, the stories out of Las Vegas have remained the same.

Club owner Robert Susnar continues to maintain several of his employees said they saw Jones make threats and incite a melee that led to a triple shooting outside the club.

Weeks later, Las Vegas police made the same accusations.

Now, Jones' defense team tells NewsChannel5 there's more to the story. Another witness who worked at the club has come forward and told police his version.

It's an account that matches what Jones has said since that February morning, that he didn't do anything wrong.

"It's nice to have someone corroborating the story, especially an employee of the club," said Worrick Robinson, one of Jones' attorneys.

Robinson said the witness told police Jones made no threats to a bouncer and that it was the other way around.

"The bodyguard had a baton and told Adam Jones that he was going to break his knees," Robinson said.

Robinson said this employee will be a key witness to clear their client who they maintain was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"He would have no reason to lie. Adam doesn't know this person," Robinson said.

The defense believes this is just the first of much good news to come. They hope by the end of this it's only Jones' version of events that stands.

Jones' lawyers didn't name the witness and without that name, Las Vegas police said they can't find the report.

The district attorney charged Jones with two counts of felony coercion. The district attorney said it would be "inappropriate to discuss the facts of the case" before the preliminary hearing at the end of October.

The defense expects this witness to testify at that time.

Titans training camp begins Friday.

Jones' year long suspension, doesn't allow him to practice or play. But his agent is talking with the NFL, hoping to get Jones on the field for training camp on Friday.

My question is would this have any effect on the outcome of the case? His charge is coercion and, if what the witness says is true, Pac could have 'coerced' with the shooter after the bouncer threatened him.

*Damnit, sorry we can merge this with the Pacman news thread
