Vince Young says he's 'committed' to Titans
Quote:
Gary Estwick of the Nashville Tennessean reports quarterback Vince Young continues to speak out about his status with the Titans.
In an interview with ESPN broadcast Thursday, Young said he would be willing to be the No. 2 quarterback for the next two years — not by choice, but he did it last season — and reiterated the point he made recently on a Baltimore television station: He's ready to play now.
Young also said he "definitely" wants to remain a Titan.
"I don't know what NFL player around the league doesn't want to play and be a starter," Young told ESPN. "So what I'm saying is that I'm ready to play ball, and if it's not here in my next two years that I'm going to be able to play here, then I'm telling guys around the league I'm ready to play football. That's basically what I'm saying."
The fourth-year pro's comments to Baltimore's WMAR-TV intimated that he wanted to be traded if he's not the starter. That prompted his agent, Major Adams, to say Young is not asking to be traded — not now, at least.
Young said he believes he is ready to regain the job he lost after last year's season opener, when he suffered an injury and gave way to Kerry Collins, who led the Titans to a 13-3 finish and the top seed in the AFC playoffs.
