Default Awards Keep Coming For Argo Dominique Dorsey

Toronto Argonauts RB/KR Dominique Dorsey will soon need a separate trophy case dedicated solely to his 2008 season. The Canadian Football League announced today that that Dorsey has been named CFL All-Star at kick returner for the first time in his career.

Dorsey commented on his latest achievement, "This is truly an honour as it is my first time on the CFL All-Star team. I worked hard last off-season so that I could perform to the best of my ability during the season, and I think I achieved that. Since this is a special teams award, I don't want to overshadow the rest of my teammates who did a great job blocking for me. They deserve much of the credit."

Already a unanimous choice for East Division Outstanding Special Teams Player, team Most Outstanding Player, team Outstanding Special Teams Player, and an East Division All-Star for the second-straight year at kick returner, Dorsey is the most decorated player on the Argos roster this season. Despite missing five games due to injury, he ended the season as the CFL's all-purpose yards leader by nearly 150 yards. The reigning East Division Outstanding Special Teams Player accumulated at least 200 all-purpose yards in a game nine (9) times this season, twice going for more than 300 yards, scored four touchdowns, been named CFL Special Teams Player of the Week four times and CFL Special Teams Player of the Month twice (July & September). Also, this season Dorsey set a new Argos single-season kickoff yards record (1,257) and a new club single-game kickoff yards record (225).

Dorsey departs for Montreal next week to attend the 2008 Gibson's Finest CFL Player Awards where he will be up against Calgary Stampeders' kicker Sandro DeAngelis for CFL Outstanding Special Teams Player. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 20 at the Casino de Montreal.

CFL all-stars were selected by 46 voting members, including representation from the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) and the eight CFL head coaches, and fans from across the country. Fans were given the opportunity to have their voice heard through the Future Shop CFL All-Star Balloting Program where three quarters of a million player votes were cast. The FRC voting panel consists of representation from each CFL market and a national chapter.
