Redskins activate Cedric Griffin after suspension

The Redskins will have cornerback Cedric Griffin back in the lineup when they face the Seahawks in Sunday’s playoff game.
The team announced Friday that they removed Griffin from the exempt list he was on while serving a four-game suspension and placed cornerback D.J. Johnson on injured reserve to make room for him on the roster. Griffin was suspended for four games in early December for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
Griffin, who had 43 tackles and two forced fumbles in nine games this season, said that he feels like he’s in good enough shape to help the team.
“I’m fine, man. I was a track athlete growing all the way up, so my conditioning has never been a problem for myself,” Griffin said, via the Washington Times. “Lifting weights has never been a problem. I’m in great shape, to be honest with you. If I get my chance to get out there on the field, I’m sure I’ll get out there and prove it to you guys.”
The Redskins are less sure about the physical conditions of left guard Kory Lichtensteiger and safety DeJon Gomes, both of whom will be game-time decisions after missing some or all of practice this week. If Lichtensteiger can’t play, rookie Josh LeRibeus will get the start.
