Just got off the phone with sources with knowledge of the situation. Zorn will be the next head coach. He spent a lot of time with Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder the past two days, team sources said, and the brass - Cerrato in particular - "fell in love with him." The team flew a plane to pick up his family this weekend. A press conference could come by 3 pm Sunday
Zorn was the Seattle QB coach the last 6 years and spent about two weeks as the Redskins Offensive Coordinator, before this latest promotion.
Twice in recent days the Redskins contacted Jim Fassel to tell him they were about to move forward, but never reached the contract stage, league sources said, which int he end turned out to be a stall tactic. Steve Mariucci and Ron Meeks, the other finalists, had not been contacted as this afternoon.
One league source said Zorn would get a five-year deal.
I heard this on the radio on the way home last night. I remember watching Jim QB'n on the Seahawks long ago. I don't think he's HC material though. But that's a no brainer with the shortage we have in the NFL.

Yeah, the thing with the shortage in HC's in the league is theyget one year with a crap team like Bobby Petrino and are convinced that they have no talent in this league. THey need a few years.
At 3:00 ET on February 10, Jim Zorn was introduced as the new head coach of the Washington Redskins. My guess is that Jim impressed Daniel Snyder enough for Snyder to promote Jim from offensive coordinator (which Jim was originally hired for) to head coach.
Jim did say he would hire an offensive coordinator, but he would work with the quarterbacks.
Congrats to Jim Zorn for being named the new head coach of the Washington Redskins; you've come a long way.
