WINNIPEG, MB - Few players have shown more heart during their CFL careers than Winnipeg Blue Bombers receiver Milt Stegall.

So it should come as no surprise that Stegall is this year's recipient of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award. He is the only the second two-time winner of the award.

The award is presented annually to the Blue Bomber player who best demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the CFL and community. Stegall is also the team's nominee for the prestigious Tom Pate Memorial Award, which is presented annually by the CFL and CFLPA.

Stegall, who just completed his 13-year CFL season, had one of the best seasons of his career in 2007. The Turtle-Man finished seventh in the CFL in receiving yardage with 1,108 yards on 69 receptions. It marked the 10th time in his career that he topped the 1,000-yard mark in receiving. He finished with eight TD catches on the season - which gives him 144 for his career - and is the CFL's All-Time Touchdown Leader.

Stegall has been equally productive in the community this past year. He has made countless appearances on behalf of organizations such as CancerCare Manitoba, the Never Alone Foundation and the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Manitoba.

Stegall has also given generously of his time to causes like the Siloam Mission for the homeless and Special Olympics Manitoba. As well, he has made numerous public appearances at local community centres and churches and has spoken to youth on several occasions about drug and gang awareness.

Past winners of the Cal Murphy Heart of a Legend Award include Milt Stegall (2006), Matt Sheridan (2005), Moe Elewonibi (2004, 2002), Khari Jones (2003) and Dave Mudge.
