Mizzou loses season-opening starter at RB to broken fibula
Quote:
And the injury hits just keep on coming for the Missouri Tigers.
A day after revealing that a pair of defensive starters would miss at least Thursday’s game against Arizona State due to injury, head coach Gary Pinkel announced a significant injury on the other side of the ball.
According to Pinkel, running back Kendial Lawrence suffered a broken fibula/hairline fracture of his fibula during this past weekend’s win over Miami (OH). Lawrence gained just 10 yards on nine carries in the win.
Lawrence is expected to be sidelined for about a month.
Unlike the defensive injuries, however, the bad break for Lawrence shouldn’t have to much of an impact on the Tigers’ rushing attack as he was expected to be part a three-headed committee that includes De’Vion Moore and Henry Josey. Plus, starting quarterback James Franklin‘s 72 yards rushing led the team.
