Northwestern RB latest to go down with season-ending injury

Northwestern has suffered yet another knee to the groin.
Specifically, though, it’s a torn ACL — I’m noticing a trend here — that will sideline the Wildcats’ second-leading rusher for the rest of the season. Coach Pat Fitzgerald announced today that running back Mike Trumpy suffered the injury in Saturday’s loss to Illinois. After the game, the school announced that the the injury was a sprain, rather than a ligament tear.
Trumpy, a sophomore, has 182 yards and a touchdown on the season.
In other Northwestern injury news, Fitzgerald said he expects quarterback Dan Persa to play this weekend against Michigan. Persa appeared to re-aggravate his repaired Achilles tendon, which kept him out of the first three games of the season.
