The 2008 Green Bay Packers……. Where Is Nancy Drew?

The 2007 Green Bay Packers were 13-3 and an overtime game away from the Super Bowl. All of the same faces return from that roster, except for Brett Favre. Again, that is except for Brett Favre. Aaron Rodgers finally gets his chance to be the face of this young, yet experienced team. However, the Packers 2008 success still remains a huge mystery.
So what do the experts say? Well, Matlock, Angela Lansbury, and Ken, Wilma, Daphnie, Shaggy, and Scooby are no where to be seen for their analysis. This is too complicated of a case to solve before the players hit the field.
This defense is young all around outside of the Corner Position. A young and dominant line with support from the toughest threesome of LB’s in the NFL. The Corners lack depth but are anchored by Pro-Bowlers and potential Hall of Famer Charles Woodson and Al Harris. These CBs are possibly again the top duo in the NFL. If these two can stay healthy and a continuation of Atari Bigby‘s progression at Safety continue, there is no reason for the Pack to feel confident on winning games defensively throughout the season.
On the offense, the line is stout and the receiving corps is one for teams to be envious. Donald Lee at TE has emerged as a Top 10 TE and spreads the defense. However, the two key positions of RB and QB hold many questions. Was Ryan Grant a one year wonder and did he build success off of Favre? Well, regardless of the answer, the Packers have plenty of depth at RB but may add to it in the draft. The Zone Blocking Scheme, in its 3rd year in Cheese Nation and can plug numerous guys in that may not rank high on certain boards but fit this scheme ( Any Bronco RB we have fallen in love with that has gone elsewhere and flopped.)
And on to question mark #1! Aaron Rodgers. Is he that much of a question mark? Don’t you want your number one QB Choice, who is the future, to sit a while? Don’t you want your #1 QB Draft Pick to learn before getting tossed in the flames (Detroit, Houston, SF, and Cleveland probably do….. Harrington, Carr, Smith, Couch) ?
This is Aaron Rodgers time now. What very few Packer fans realize is that Ted Thompson prepared for this day years ago. A tough Defense. Great talent all around to throw the ball. A number of RBs to plug in to take the pressure off of Rodgers while surrounded by a great line with many youngsters waiting to protect him.
Is this really a mystery? Can Rodgers fill in for Favre and win games on his own? NO! But he has been given a young cast and learning opportunity to succeed. Scooby-Doo…. Where are you???!!! Get out of here Scooby! It seems Ted Thompson has earned and eaten all of the Scooby Snacks.
