Cutler eager to work with revamped coaching staff
By: Larry Mayer | Last Updated: 2/21/2012 9:41 AM

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler told a Chicago radio station that he's looking forward to working with new offensive coordinator Mike Tice and first-year quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates.

“I think that Lovie [Smith] has done a very good job of being very selective and taking his time and putting together this offensive staff and making sure that we get it right this time and we get the guys that are not only going to help me but help everyone around us and find match-ups for everyone and make everyone successful on the offensive side of the ball,” Cutler said Monday on ESPN 1000’s “Waddle & Silvy Show."

Reiterating what he told ChicagoBears.com Feb. 7, Cutler said he was very happy that the Bears hired Bates. Working closely with Bates with the Broncos from 2006-08, Cutler completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 9,024 yards, 54 touchdowns, 37 interceptions and an 87.1 passer rating in 37 starts.

“I’ve been a fan of him since I left Denver,” Cutler said. “When I left Denver I told him that somewhere down the line hopefully we’ll get to work together again. This is a good situation for us both.”

Cutler also revealed he hopes that new Bears general manager Phil Emery will add some offensive weapons during the offseason.

“I think every quarterback in the league wants that,” Cutler said. “We’re not happy unless we’re getting offensive guys year-in and year-out; more toys to play with. I think [Emery] is going to do a great job. He’ll be judged probably pretty hard on his first free agency and draft. If that’s fair, that’s debatable. But we went out and hired the best guy. We got him, so hopefully he’ll get some guys for us to play with.”

Cutler gushed about the possibility of reuniting with former Broncos teammate Brandon Marshall, a 6-4, 230-pound wide receiver who remains under contract with the Dolphins.

“He’s a monster; so big, so physical, does an unbelievable job of getting open,” Cutler said. “His physical abilities are second to his mental side of the game. I’ve never been with a receiver that understands the game, understands why we’re doing certain things. We’ll be in the course of a game and Brandon’s just going in the slot or flipping over to ‘Z.’

“He just understands coverages. He wants the ball every snap, which is a problem sometimes and that’s why he switches around. But I’ll tell you what, he’s fun to play with.”

Still say he'd be more eager to work with some WRs. LOL

Sounds like Cutlers an azz kisser. I've always despised that.
But Bears management loves it.
