FSU was overrated for sure. I even stated that I thought TCU should have been in over FSU. They didn't deserve anything with that nonsense schedule and the way they played all year. They got the benefit of the doubt, which I'm fine with, but TCU should have had their spot. That was proven in the Rose Bowl.
Every year in college football since its beginning is in question using your logic since the BCS was much better than automatic bowl tie ins, and different polls awarding different champions. Before the BCS, #1 rarely played #2.

Also going by your logic this playoff is invalid b/c TCU got left out, but if OSU wins I'm positive the team, the university, the fans, and most everyone would deemed them as champs including you.

By the way FSU schedule is better than TCU, FSU beat Ga Tech 11-3, Clemson 10-3, Louisville 9-4.
TCU best victory is "overrated" Ole Miss 9-4, K St 9-4, and Ok 8-5, all who lost their bowl games.

The only thing proven in the Rose Bowl was that Oregon is a really good team. No undefeated power 5 team has ever been left out of NC shot for a 1-loss team. It is foolish to think that would happen.

There's a reason I've maintained we had a mythical national championship. I still think we need more than four teams. Six is the right number, and I think this year proves that. I would even support a revised BcS ranking that chooses the top six teams. 1/2 get a bye, and play it out from there.

TCU wasn't a top team. They should have been in over FSU, but that doesn't mean they would have won. By the end of the year, it was Oregon/Bama/Ohio State, then everyone else. My top four would have included Michigan State over TCU, as I said earlier, but with the perception of the Big Ten that never would have flown before this bowl season.

What do you mean perception? Don't start overreacting and pretend the regular season didn't happened. For the most part the big 10 disappointed as usual. Top 4 Mich St, OSU, WISC, Minn, all lost to Power 5 teams OOC. Big 10 can still finish with a losing bowl record. So I think we need to pump the breaks on the big 10 love fest. Already starting to remind me of OK/big 12 love fest from last year.

I mean the thought that the Big Ten would be left out of the playoff no matter what happened, that they couldn't compete with any of the other conferences, etc. I'm not saying the Big Ten is automatically at the top, but they are on the rise, as I've been saying for a few years. There are some great coaches that are/have been coming to the league, and some great talent. Urban Meyer has the rest of the conference upping their game on recruiting, and it's good all around for the conference. I've never really cared much about the rest of the Big Ten, but I do love college football, the Big Ten competing again is great for all of college football.

I agree that there should be at least 6 teams for a playoff and 8 would be better. If Division II can have a playoff with about 20 teams and 5 or 6 games, (check it out: http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/football/d2) then why can't Div I do the same? or at least have 8 teams instead of 4.

BUT WAIT!!! My Gators (bless their offense-less souls) somehow managed to beat ECU.....
so the SEC is a perfect 5-0 for their bowls!!!!

Good thing they have a good D -- the D was on the field for over 100 plays....amazing that they didn't run out of gas before the end. Well.....there's always next year.

Well obviously this is years old, but I think it's obvious by now that the SEC West has NOT been overrated by any means. Plus this season of 2020 has the SEC looking strong as ever, with more parity between top tier teams than any other conference -- as usual. The Big Ten remains very top-heavy, also as usual. It's crazy to say the SEC is overrated, even back whenever the thread was made in 2014. That's only a couple years removed from the point where Ohio State and Arkansas went toe-to-toe with the Buckeyes winning by 5 points in the Sugar Bowl. The Razorbacks weren't the best team in the SEC that season either, not even the best in the SEC West as Alabama and LSU were killing it consistently around that time. There shouldn't be any doubt regarding the SEC with so many ranked teams this season. Hell Arkansas plays the toughest schedule in the history of CFB with a total of EIGHT preseason ranked opponents in the 10-game SEC-only schedule, two of which are legitimate Top-3 teams in #2 Alabama and currently #4 Georgia (dropped from 3rd after the loss to the Tide last weekend). Arkansas is most definitely the best story in college football this year though, with the epic turnaround from two dismal 2-10 seasons under Chad Morris. Sam Pittman has done an outstanding job thus far, along with DC Barry Odom, and the Hogs should rightfully be 3-1 and ranked inside the Top 15 as well. The only criticisms of the SEC this year have come by ignorant individuals who remain incredulous about the fact that a 10-game SEC-only schedule is obviously going to result on those teams beating up each other, especially when there were at least eight Top-25 teams.
