Default Controversial Call During Arkansas @ #13 Auburn

Just curious to see what some outside opinions might be regarding the last game over the weekend and the botched call by the officials, which would have resulted in a Razorback victory 28-27, but instead ended in a late field goal to seal the victory for Auburn. Regardless, I'm not going to get too hung up about it. Arkansas has definitely shown the ability to compete with ANYBODY in the country given the effort against Georgia as well as the performances on the road against Miss State and Auburn. Senior quarterback Felipe Franks, in his first season with the Hogs after the Florida transfer, is continuing to improve his production each game. It's literally been TEN quarterbacks ago that we actually had anyone this capable, which was Brandon Allen.

RB Rakeem Boyd

QB Felipe Franks

The most remarkable part of this early success has been the fact that they've managed this with several key injuries, including BOTH starting DE's and 2nd-Team All-SEC RB Rakeem Boyd. Not to mention too that our top wideout, Treylon Burks, has been out for two games. It should be very interesting to see how they handle the matchup with Ole Miss on Saturday, especially after such a crazy high-scoring affair with Alabama. Their offense looks tremendous, either that or they really did have the Tide's defensive signals as Saban commented, but the Rebels' defense has been atrocious so far. On the other hand, Arkansas' defense has looked outstanding and have been playing with considerable effort so far, while the Razorback offense is vastly improved with Franks at the helm. It certainly seems like Sam Pittman and staff are doing an amazing job, which is a huge turnaround after two consecutive 2-10 seasons under Chad Morris. It's definitely been difficult to maintain interest, even as a diehard fan, when THOSE are the circumstances. Although I would say that they've had talented plays, and I think there were at least FOUR games in each of those seasons where they lost by a touchdown or less. Regardless I've got plenty of confidence moving forward. #WPS

Here's a segment of an article I read on the matter....
College Football Cavalcade: Arkansas Auburn Debacle: The Team That Could Explode

To whiteboard this, Auburn was down 28-27 in the final seconds against Arkansas and in field goal range. With the clock winding down, Tiger QB Bo Nix fumbled the snap, picked it up, turned, and spiked the ball behind him to stop the clock.

Arkansas recovered what technically was a live ball after Nix fired it into the ground, and that should’ve been it. Hog win, 2-1, Gus Malzahn on a mega hot seat, and …

After a review, it was ruled intentional grounding on an incomplete pass, Auburn ball, field goal, ball game, let’s go take a steam.

And then this got even worse. Instead of simply saying the officials gagged, a blown whistle became the official party line.
