Cowboys franchise player OLB Anthony Spencer's agent confirms his client won't sign a long-term deal before Monday's deadline.
"We will start the season with his current contract," Spencer's agent said. "We will see what happens during the season. I'm sure we will have a discussion before the season ends." Entering his age-28 campaign, Spencer has tallied at least five sacks each of the past three seasons. He'd be due $10.6 million if franchised again in 2013.
Well, they obviously want to keep him if they put the tag on him so it is best to keep his mouth shut until this season starts.
