Jaguars Del Rio critical of Reggie Nelson's play

Quote:
Michael C Wright of the Florida Times Union reports Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio was critical of free safety Reggie Nelson.

Nelson failed to wrap up on an attempted tackle of Colts tight end Dallas Clark in the third quarter, resulting in a 27-yard touchdown.

In the fourth quarter, Nelson gave up the game-winning TD when he allowed Wayne to get behind him in zone coverage. The safety made matters worse when he attempted to knock the ball out of Wayne’s hands instead of making the tackle.

“I’ve just got to stay deep, period,” Nelson said. “That’s what happens when you don’t get enough depth. The receiver gets behind you. I was trying to knock the ball out, but I’ve got to get him down.”

There is a change Del Rio could be getting Nelson out of the starting lineup. In critiquing Nelson’s performance, Del Riosaid flatly, “He didn’t play well — can’t stay in the lineup playing like that.”

Asked whether the team planned to make a change at safety, Del Rio said, “We’ll see. We’ll work through that and decide what we want to do. We’ll turn our attention to New England [and] we’ll be looking at a lot of tape in the meantime. Anthony Smith, Gerald Alexander, [and] Sean Considine, they’re all here. They’ve all played at some point. They’ll all continue to play the remainder of the season.”

I'm going to blame the line. They had no pressure on Manning in that entire game.
