Giants New York Giants, Justin Pugh Agree to Terms; Ryan Nassib Signing “Pretty Close”

In less than 24 hours, the New York Giants will be reporting to East Rutherford at the newly named Quest Diagnostics Training Center in preparation for the 2013 season as training camp will kick off this weekend.

At the start of the day. there were still two players that the Giants need to get signed so they can report to camp with no issues; first-round draft pick and offensive lineman Justin Pugh and fourth-round draft pick and quarterback Ryan Nassib, both coincidentally are from the University of Syracuse and were teammates while there, who will become teammates at the professional level.

New York Giants co-owner John Mara said during a press conference today that both Pugh and Nassib's deals are "pretty close" to being done and expects them both to report to camp on Friday. Only moments after that, Pugh's agent tweeted that his client had agreed to terms on a rookie deal with Big Blie.

On his personal Twitter account, prior to his client's tweet, Pugh mentioned that he is packing up his stuff, which seemed to indicate things were done or near done.

"Packing!," he tweeted.

As reported on Wednesday, Pugh was one of 14 remaining first-round draft picks still unsigned, but since then, five more draft picks have been signed, making him the sixth.

Pugh is expected to compete for a starting spot on the offensive line, potentially at right tackle with David Diehl and James Brewer, while Nassib will be looking to compete for the backup quarterback spot with long-time veteran and backup David Carr.

Last month, Pugh said that he would be in attendance for training camp whether he had a deal or not in place, but that's no longer going to be an issue. And, now, Ryan Nassib is up.

I'm still not a huge fan of this pick but whatever, Jerry Reese has proved me wrong before.
