"Don't let one game define your season"

Interesting statement. When you look back on the 60s Packers, 70s Steelers, 80s Niners and 90s Cowboys, what games do you remember in your mind? Max McGee catching 2 passes in SB 1. Bradshaw to Swann vs. Dallas. Montana to Clark vs. Dallas/Montana to Taylor vs. Cincy. Cowboys crushing the Bills. Hmmm, all those didn't come from Weeks 1-17.

One game does define every team's season.

Unless you're one of those idiots who gets angry because NFL Films rarely documents the '98 Vikings season. Uhh, who are they? EXACTLY.

And that was a 15 win team. Pretty damn good season, almost perfect, but nobody even talks about that team anymore. They choked vs. Atlanta and now they are an afterthought.

People only remember who wins the last game of the season. Going 15-1 and falling flat on your face get's you what? A very low draft pick.

That's why bellichick's no-name team kicked the colt's and Steeler's asses with ease.
They might not have names known to you, but anyone who thinks that the Pats put together a two-year stretch in which they lost only a handful of games based solely on the genius of Belichek might want to step back a bit and take a deep breath.

Pats have:
one of the best LB crews in the game
one of the best safety tandems in the league
WHEN HEALTHY two very good CB's (and as shown their backups aint bad)
Good Lines
Above average to good WR corp
and only trhe best QB (in my opinion) in the game today

Belichek is another piece of that puzzle, but he has some damned good talent to work with too.

Way to be on the writing CR. Can't say I can agree with everythin you say, but nothing to quibble about.

Great post!

Funny I was watching the highlights of the AFCC Game Browns-vs-Broncos....the John Elway "Drive" game on ESPN the other day and at the very beginning they show Cowher when he was Cleveland's ST's coach (I'm pretty sure) and he was spewing out the same crap then that he does now and it really made me just sit there and shake my head and say "****" Marty Schottenheimer.........your star pupil is just like you.

I remember every anaylist and sports reporter in the country had them in the SB given their regular season record. It was basically a foregone conclusion in everyone's mind considering they were the highest scoring offense that year and were, offensively, blowing out their competition with high scoring games. Then comes the first playoff game and they got pimp slapped because, as usual, their defense was the weak link. Their offense was a SB offense, but their defense wasn't.

If my QB couldn't throw further then 15 yards down field I would get conservative also. I dont define BR by his last game or even say "Terry Bradshaw would've won it".

Ground Chuck woulda lost that game the same way.

After sixteen games of deceit, Bill Cowher morphed back into the Marty clone he is, as quickly as Marty did himself this postseason.

It can be said that both Cowher and his mentor did a fabulous job of speaking and acting as though they had changed this season. But when the going gets tough, losers play scared, coach scared and then spout brainless rhetortic afterward.

so true.... the truth hurts!
