BOISE, Idaho - In a subdued ending to a week of startling political theater, Sen. Larry Craig announced his resignation Saturday, bowing to pressure from fellow Republicans worried about damage from his arrest and guilty plea in a gay sex sting..........

Craig was arrested June 11 in a police undercover vice operation. The arresting officer, Sgt. Dave Karsnia, said in his report that the restroom where he encountered Craig is a known location for homosexual activity.

Craig has faced rumors about his sexuality since the 1980s. He has called assertions that he has engaged in gay sex ridiculous.

"I am not gay. I never have been gay," Craig said defiantly after a news conference Tuesday. He said he had kept the incident from aides, friends and family and pleaded guilty "in hopes of making it go away."

Does it matter if he's gay? What if his job performance as a politician was good and productive? I don't really get this.

No, it doesn't matter if he's gay. What matters is that he broke the law. Why do we continually overlook the fact that the people who are writing our laws and enforcing our laws on us are criminals themselves? If it were you and I, nobody would be saying "oh, he's such a good guy, we should let this blow over." Nobody would hear about it. We'd be found guilty and punished regardless. The law should not be overlooked simply because of the privilege of his office.

not only that, but he lied about it and continually denies it and Guys like Gov Florio resign even though he publicly admits he is gay and didn't commit a crime, this guy, gay or not, is a *******, hypcrite, liar and should be beaten accordingly.
