Politics and Religion Forum
As the godfather of the P&R forum, let me just say that approving every post is ridiculous. All that happens in that situation is that instead of the forum taking the bias of the individual posters, the bias is transferred to the moderator. Instead of the posting community determining what is valid and invalid, it's screened through one person's (possibly skewed) interpretation of it.
I'm not accusing anybody of bias. I have not had any problems with the moderators here and I have been welcomed and assisted with the transfer very well. But I'm just noting something that, through experience, I have learned.
My suggestion would be that those who wish to participate in the forum have to click thru a waiver before they read the threads that details tolerance and humility. Explain that many valid opinions are all equally viable and that just because it unnerves an individual to read about it, that by entering the forum they are endorsing the freedom that the forum allows.
Granted, there are some ****tards out there that will abuse the privilege of posting in there, but these are usually apparent for what they are and quickly reported, and then taken care of.
The P&R Forum was created so that there would be a separate forum away from casual readers. It was unobtrusive and escapable for anybody that didn't want to read it.
