Default Report: Bucs looking at DTs Amobi Okoye, Derek Landri

Quote:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to bolster their depth at defensive tackle, and free-agent Amobi Okoye has emerged as one of the team's top options at the position.

The Tampa Bay Times reported there is mutual interest between the Buccaneers and Okoye, who also is being pursued by the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals.

A former first-round pick of the Houston Texans in 2007, Okoye had 27 tackles and four sacks for the Chicago Bears last year. On Wednesday, Bears general manager Phil Emery acknowledged Okoye likely would not return to the team.

"Right now, Amobi is trying to decide which direction he is going," Emery said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "We've had conversations with him. So far, we have not been able to work out a deal. Amobi is probably going in a different direction."

The Buccaneers are in search of a defensive tackle after Gerald McCoy was forced to miss all but six games in 2011 with a torn biceps muscle.

Derek Landri is another option at defensive tackle for the Buccaneers, the Times reported.
At least it sounds like the ladies are trying to put together some talent instead of sitting on all of their cap space. The way that the rev sharring works now is great. No sense in holding tons of cap space, cause you're gonna have to share your profits anyhow. With Saints probably looking more like the 'Aints this year, I could see the Buccs winning the division... Now if only Cam Newton can get on the cover of Madden we're set.

They got a lot of holes to fill, every other team in the division would have to suck in order for the Buccs to win it.

Well we haven't even hit the draft yet.

O-Line is now firmed up.
WR corp now has a decent threat at #1 and at #2
RB and QB were fine to start with.

DT situation has been addressed.
DE are firm.
LB's a bit thin, but I'm thinking that we might be going with Kuckley or what ever his name is.
Barber resigned for one year, say hello to the new strong safety.
As long as Talib and Jackson can stay out of trouble for another couple of months... There are no holes left.
AND we're going into the draft at like 5th.
