Final Boarding Call For The A-Train
TAMPA - Sitting in the stands of Giants Stadium, Chris Simms endured listening to the boos and insults slung at his father, Phil. Known as one of the most vocal NFL cities, the stadium surroundings on game day would get quite loud.
During his father's time as the New York Giants quarterback, Simms remembers how boisterous the crowd would get any time Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor did anything. Whenever he made a tackle or sack, the crowd roared with enthusiasm.
Simms has heard a similar decibel level at Raymond James Stadium. Whenever Mike Alstott touches the ball, nothing approaches the veracity of Bucs fans cheering on the A-Train.
"It's somewhat similar to LT," Simms said. "Mike's definitely got this city wrapped around his finger.
"And he deserves it because he's put in a lot of good years."
