LP Field Getting a Make Over

The Titans home-field has not been touched since it was built 12 years ago. $2 of every ticket sold to the field goes into a stadium upgrade fund. That is not just NFL games, but EVERYTHING. They host international soccer tournaments, parties, tours, concerts, music festivals, and anything else you are willing to pay to enter the stadium for ... $2 per hear goes to the stadium upgrade fund.

So, the purposed upgrades are built-in ... they will not cost a tax payer dollar, period. They still have to have a vote to do the construction to the stadium ... but there should be no hurdles, since it will be self-funded and has mayor and every other support on board.

The upgrades will be DRASTIC, too.

The most impressive upgrade will be a cluster of 12 high-speed elevators. Currently, the only way for the average fan to go from the ticket gate to the top level of seating is by a series of huge ramps they must walk up. There is no rides up, there is only an elevator for the handicap, there are no escalators. In ideal walking conditions, it takes the average-sized adult male around 500 steps to get to the top. That is ideal conditions ... of course, with tens of thousands of people over-crowding these ramps, you don't get full-strides on your steps and it takes much more effort and time to get up than is ideal. These elevators will turn a process that could be as much as half an hour to climb up to your seats in traffic at the start/finish of games into a 10-second air-conditioned ride (discounting the wait to get on the elevators).

Another impressive improvement will be the sound system. Currently, it takes over half a second for the public announcer's words to get to you ... and even longer if you are in an unfortunate seat that requires you to get the rebound of an echo that you can't hear or understand for the roar of the crowd. They would refurbish the current PA system with well over 800 new speakers scattered throughout the stadium, with each section getting a minimum of 2-3 speakers. It will take the laps time in the seat the absolute furthest away from the announcer himself from 0.52 seconds to 0.06 seconds! So, it will be a drastic improvement, a much needed improvement, and real-time feedback of the on-field action.

My favorite improvement will be the scoreboards! The current scoreboards were chosen because of their size. Their size made them the biggest scoreboards in the NFL at the time of it's construction. But they look like high-school scoreboards with a video screen!!! I love them for their simplicity, but come on!

The new scoreboards would be the largest outdoor HD video screens in the NFL.

Other improvements include new areas (some indoor, some outdoor) for fans to gather, such as a sit-down eatery, a wifi hotspot, arcades, and other entertainment functions for fans that are currently available only on the club level.

Qwest has the same thing, you just walk the ramps to get up/down. Elevators would be way too cramped I'd never use them anyways.

I wouldn't use the elevators, because I'm 150 pounds and like the walk ... but my dad or gf would definitely. There will be 12 elevators speed elevators taking 10 seconds to get 1st to 3rd and 10 seconds back down ... it'll move fast enough to make it worth while for those who don't want to walk.

LP fied has a stair case that is a VERY short walk that moves down only that most people don't realize is there or thinks is a staff hallway, so nobody uses it. I can get back down from my 3rd level PSLs in under 2 minutes. Once you get into it, you cannot get back out until you get to the ground level, though.
